FOR THE PORTABLE PEOPLE METER (PPM)
Portland, OR November 4, 2009 - Wherever a Radio listener may be – in the car, at home, or at work – PPM monitors every station heard to give precise results about how and when consumers listen to the Radio. PPM automatically detects the stations to which listeners are exposed, stores the information, and sends it back to Arbitron each night.
PARC will host a seminar about PPM with insights from some of the nation’s top media experts on November 4th at the Gerding Theater. This event will reveal preliminary results and the unique aspects of the Portland Market
“Radio has always been a powerful medium and this new technology supports Radio’s power with accountability. I’m excited to bring in Jim Gaither, one of the nation’s most prominent media buyers, along with two of Arbitron’s key executives and Radio management from San Francisco to share and educate this new technology with local advertising and marketing professionals, ” said Melissa Kunde, PARC’s Executive Director .
The beauty of PPM data for Radio is that it is more stable from survey to survey so advertisers can be more confident that the differences among surveys are the result of changes in listening. Since it is passive and electronic, listeners don't need to remember who they were listening to, they need only to carry the PPM device and the technology does the rest. In addition, PPM data is refreshed each month, to get a faster read on changes in the market.
PARC will host the PPM event at the Gerding Theater at the Armory, 128 NW Eleventh Avenue on November 4, 2009 from 8:30am – 10:30am.
